The Rise of Natural Aesthetics: Baby Botox and Microdosing
In recent years, aesthetic medicine has shifted toward a “natural, refreshed” look rather than dramatic transformation. Patients increasingly want treatments that help them look like the best version of themselves—rested, healthy, and confident—without looking overdone.
This trend has led to the growing popularity of treatments such as Baby Botox, microdosing neurotoxins, facial balancing, skin boosters, and advanced medical-grade skincare. These approaches focus on subtle enhancements, improved skin quality, and preventative aging.
Let’s take a look at two subtle approaches to wrinkle prevention, Baby Botox and Microdosing.
First, we must understand what a wrinkle is. A wrinkle is a line, fold, or crease that forms in the skin, most commonly because of aging. Over time, repeated facial movement and UV exposure cause tiny injuries to collagen fibers, and the skin repairs them imperfectly.
Baby Botox is not botox for babies 😉 Rather it refers to the use of smaller amounts of neurotoxin (i.e. Botox, Xeomin, Jeuveau, Dysport) injected into targeted areas to soften fine lines while maintaining natural facial movement.
Unlike traditional muscle relaxer treatments that may fully relax a muscle, Baby Botox uses tiny doses placed precisely to reduce wrinkles while preserving expression.
Common treatment areas include: forehead lines, crow’s feet around the eyes, frown lines between the brows
The goal is prevention and subtle improvement rather than dramatic freezing. Patients often choose Baby Botox when they want to look refreshed without others noticing they had treatment.
Benefits include: natural facial expressions, prevention of deeper wrinkles, minimal downtime, softer, more youthful appearance
Closely related to Baby Botox, microdosing neurotoxins involves injecting very small quantities of toxin across multiple tiny injection points. Instead of targeting only deeper wrinkles, microdosing can also help improve skin texture and pore size.
This technique is especially popular for: early signs of aging, preventative treatments in younger patients, subtle improvements in skin smoothness
Microdosing allows providers to customize treatments for each patient, creating results that look effortless and natural.
I often get asked, “what age should you start getting Botox?” Well, since the aging process starts around 21…my answer would be 21. But at this point, it is more preventative. If you think about it, if you soften movement in certain areas, you can prevent part of the reason for the wrinkles to form in the first place. Along with that, I educate my patients on avoiding other insults to the skin such as UV radiation, smoking, dehydration, poor diet, and lack of proper skincare which can all accelerate the development of wrinkles. But also, it’s never TOO late to start.
Come see me to see what technique is best for you and your goals.
